Somaya Reece Talks About Her Weight Loss and 'Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta"

Somaya documented her recovery on YouTube

Love and Hip Hop star talks to RealityAired.com about her weight loss journey, music, breast reduction surgery and she also shares her thoughts on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta

Q: What made you finally go through with the surgery?
A: “I’ve been living with this for years. I just got to a point where I couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t really want to talk about it. That was a big part of my mom telling me that she thought it would be very uplifting for women, that’s what I’m all about. I think that women who get breast implants, who want big boobs, don’t fully understand what people like myself go through. Girls who want to enhance, it’s such a different movement than people who live with them. I have permanent bra scars on my shoulder blades. It gets really tiring. I could never close my blazers. Running was never an option for me. I’m glad I did it. Everything scared me about it, the pain, the scars. I was never worried what men thought about it because I just don’t care (laughs). I would have rather guys just stop looking at me unless they were my gay boys. Actually, when I was filming “Love & Hip Hop” I had talked to the show about it and they were like “What!?””

Q: How was the recovery process?
A: “I thought it was going to hurt more than it did for the first two days, I think it was because of a lot of numbing medicine. I could never do anything by myself. I had a nurse and a relative with me at all times. The one time I got up to go to the bathroom by myself I felt like someone was stabbing me repeatedly in the breasts. I thought I popped my stitches. I was crying for like 3 hours. That was really tough. I literally thought I was going to die. In that moment I regretted doing it. It was really scary. But I’m fine now.”

Q: How has your style changed?
A: “I’ve always wanted to wear so many things and I couldn’t especially dresses and t-shirts. All buttoned down shirts would never button all the way. A simple t-shirt fits very well now.”

Q: How much weight have you lost so far?
A: “I’m trying to stay away from the scale, I’m trying to check by inches. But that last time I checked I lost 25 pounds.”

Q: Will you be appearing on Season 3 of “Love & Hip Hop”?
A: I’m not prepared to answer that question yet but no one’s coming back man! (laughs)I think we all mesh well whether we had beef or not. Now there’s a majorly differently tone going on now. That’s pretty much going to be very obvious when Season 3 comes around. You know the producers know what they’re doing, so I’m sure they’ll find some other interesting stories that other people might be interested in watching.

Q: What do you think about “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”?
A: “I’m rooting for my girl Rasheeda. I’m glad she’s getting the shine she deserves. We’ve done a record together and she’s a really good person. I don’t really know how people mix over there in Atlanta. It better be good! (haha)”

Q: On the last season of “Love & Hip Hop” we saw you give a pair of shoes to Olivia. What’s your relationship like with her now?
A: “There is no relationship with her. Her arrogance won’t allow it. Her and her manager keep talking negatively about me.”

Q: What about you and Chrissy?
A: “People didn’t get to see me and Chrissy make peace because they didn’t want to show that. Me and Chrissy are cool. I don’t have beef with her.”

Q: How has your brand evolved since going on the show?
A: “Something that was always disappointing for me was me having to fight to have them show my Latin roots. I was not allowed to show the full potential of my brand. I now have a real management firm. I have a whole team and a label. It has been a really good stepping-stone for me to reach out to the companies I want to work with…There are no shenanigans or funny business from my team now.”

Details On Basketball Wives 4 Reunion Show

Basketball Wives Season 4 reunion - Suzie, Shaunie and Evelyn

The reunion show of the 4th season of Basketball Wives was filmed this past Saturday and Shaunie addresses the negative feedback the show has been getting.

“As a producer and also a cast member we hear it, we know what’s going on. Me myself, it really is a personal struggle for me because I’m not one to fight. I’m not perfect by any means, I’ll get mad, I’ve seen myself on this show get upset and get out of character. Us as cast members we can kind of use this show as a mirror. There are things that we see about ourselves we like, that we don’t like. It’s a work in progress to change. I feel that all these ladies, I hope I’m speaking for them correctly, I feel all of them take responsibility for what their actions are. Sometimes after it you’re like “wow, I really shouldn’t have gone there, I really shouldn’t have done that” but we take responsibility. After talking and seeing ourselves-this season was bananas. It definitely was a lot more bad than good. Even when we did have the good the bad seem to outweigh it ’cause we did have some good. We had Tami and Evelyn’s mammograms and my daughter’s birthday and things like that, that were positive. Though we had some rough spots but we take responsibility and now, I’m just glad-I’m one person in a room full of many, I’ve tried, the ladies know I’ve tried to just preach “lets get some balance” and now I think my voice is being resignated.”

Emily B Says She Is Not About The Fighting Lifestyle

Emily B, who will not be returning for 3rd season of Love and Hip Hop says she wants to put a postive image on her kids and think women of reality TV should fall back rather than engaged in a fight.

“There are a lot of women who fight on television and I promised myself that I would never do that. My advice to women who are put in bad situations in front of their kids is to shut down! You don’t have to participate in the madness. … One thing I teach my daughter is to have patience. I’m always calm and I speak to my kids in a calm tone. I never raise my voice to my daughter. Once you raise your voice, kids stop listening. If I ever need to raise my voice, my kids know I mean business.” (The YBF)

He also went to a sports radio station to confirm that he is not broke.

"My circumstances have changed. That means I don't make the same amount of money that I used to make. With my financial situation, people are asking how did I blow $60 million or $80 million? Those numbers are skewed. If you just kind of factor in the numbers of what I made and how many years I've played. Other than that, I don't know what else to say. ...
