That Jay Leno steals jokes shouldn't surprise anyone anymore -- not even Taylor Swift

This week, Leno stole a bit for "The Tonight Show" from a VH1 blogger, got caught and -- unlike his years of mugging David Letterman and Howard Stern -- was forced to admit it.

On Monday's show, Leno played a series of video clips for Swift of the country-pop starlet's surprised reactions to winning various awards. When Leno showed the clip to Swift, he told her, "We put together a little montage of you being surprised."

Leno was using "we" pretty loosely. The bit was taken from Rich Juzwiak's FourFour.com blog, which posted the montage last week under the heading, "Taylor Swift is surprised." (It was also posted by VH1.com, where Juzwiak is a senior editor.)

Juzwiak explained what happened next:

Sean O'Rourke, a research coordinator for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno reached out to me for permission to show my Taylor Swift Is Surprised video during an upcoming sit-down interview with the pop star. ... Sean assured me I and/or my blog would get credit. Duh squared, that wasn't even a concern. ... In my response, I stressed how important it was for my friend Kate Spencer (who came up with the idea for the video in the first place) to be credited, too. ... Sean warned me that he couldn't promise any specific mention from Jay, but at the very least, our names would appear in the show's credits. Since Jay Leno tends toward the diabolical, I wasn't going to get my hopes up that he'd actually say my name on air.

But Leno nor "The Tonight Show" credits made any mention of Juzwiak or Kate Spencer.

What surprised me the most wasn't so much that Kate and I weren't mentioned, but that the video wasn't credited as having originated on the Internet. This is not an obscure work -- it's racked up over 200,000 views in a week! I thought at the very least, he'd give and indication of this thing's preexistence so that his viewers could hunt it down if they were so inclined. That was, apparently, expecting too much.

It's not the first time Juzwiak has had to fight for credit -- in May, Juzwiak had a dust-up with NPR over crediting for a segment about horror movies.

And it's not the first time Leno has stolen material and presented it as his own.

For starters, Leno's "Headlines" segment was directly lifted from Letterman's "Small Town News."

Howard Stern has long complained about Leno's thievery -- and claims Leno's "Jaywalking" bit is based directly on the Stern show's popular "Homeless Game."

Sexy and Single, Coming Soon To VH1

Las Vegas' reality TV roll continues Tuesday as casting directors hit town looking for single women to appear on an upcoming VH1 dating series, "Sexy and Single."

The open call (for single women 21 years or older) will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Hard Rock Hotel's Rare 120.

Casting directors from Cornwell Casting will be looking "for characters from real life; women with strong personalities who are unafraid to speak their minds," according to Jason Cornwell, the series' supervising casting producer. 

"We chose to come to Las Vegas because there are some amazing single women, from all walks of life," he says in a news release. "We have high hopes that we will find a bevy of sexy and single ladies in Las Vegas" who are "looking for love" and "willing to show their journey to happiness openly to millions of viewers every week."

The VH1 dating series will present "the country's most sought-after bachelors" with "the opportunity to meet their perfect woman." Not a competition show, the program will focus on "real women and dating." As a result, "producers want real women with real dating stories."

Football Wives Chanita Foster's Health

When VH1 recently interviewed Chanita Foster of Football Wives, Rich asked about the health scare we watched play out on this week’s episode. Below is what she had to say about what landed her in the hospital — apparently, it’s bigger than a migraine and Pilar’s comments on it have only caused more headaches:

“Today I feel fantastic, but it was actually bigger than a migraine. It’s so funny everyone keeps saying migraine. At that moment, all they could figure out was a migraine and I was dehydrated of course. I put myself out there. I was taking Phentermine, a diet drug. I’ve drunk  three, four, five [of the energy drink] Rockstars a day, cut the coffee, to try to be Super Mom. You can even throw a little ephedrine in there, my doctor’s probably gonna kill me. There was a lot of things that went on with that. It got topped off when I couldn’t feel my legs and I had memory loss. For that to happen, they feel like there’s something going on neurotically? I’ve gone through lots of tests. I’ve had CAT scans, brain scans, EKGs, MRIs, all different kind of stuff because they said for me to be a healthy 33-year-old, you just don’t fall out like that. Things don’t happen like that. The way that my head was going, it took them a lot to get that pain away to calm me down. And that’s why the word “aneurysm” was used once we got to the hospital. And I was being rushed around because they couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t feel my legs.  And mind you, I’m not a drug person. I had kids and the most they’ve given me was Tylenol. I just don’t do good on drugs. If you gave me a Percocet or something they gave me before when I was sick in the hospital, oh my God, I was drugged for three days.

It was very scary.  My husband wasn’t there. I didn’t know where my kids were. Mind you, I forgot everything. They laughed so hard at the things that I was saying to those nurses. I had on bar clothes and the first thing I said when I woke up was, “Please tell me they didn’t cut the dress off.” They said there was so much going on. They said I said to the nurse, “Well you know I’m a black girl, I wear a weave. Don’t cut my hair.” It was bananas. For Pilar to say this was fake, I just got chills.”

Fantasia Testifies She Knew Antuan Cook Was Married

Fantasia Barrino testified Monday in onetime boyfriend Antuan Cook's divorce case in Charlotte, N.C., saying she knew from the startthat he was married and living with his wife, CNNreports.

The singer had previously admitted the relationship but said then that she didn't know Cook was married. Wife Paula Cook in early August filed for divorce, seeking custody and alimony and citing  "alienation of affection" -- essentially, home-wrecking. Adultery is still a crime in North Carolina.

Two sources in the courtroom spoke to CNN but asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the information.

Though no reporters were allowed at the hearing, Radar Online cited sources, including a Cook family member, as saying Fantasia testified she'd been pregnant and gotten an abortion shortly before her Aug. 9 suicide attempt.

That suicide attempt, incidentally, was chronicled for her VH1 reality show, "Fantasia for Real." In the most recent episode of the show (see a clip below) she and Antuan discuss whether he was with his wife or not -- and he tells her he's always been separated. She says later that she doesn't know if she'll see him again.

Barrino and Paula Cook met for mediation Nov. 1, Radar reported, with the singer reportedly willing to hand over $100,000, but Paula unwilling to settle without Fantasia admitting she'd known Antuan Cook was married.

Barrino performed in Charlotte last week, making little mention of her recent troubles except for "a quick and playful midshow film that dismissed her detractors" and some tearful words about self-acceptance and personal growth, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Fantasia's tour swings by Nokia Theatre in L.A. on Wednesday.

Ochocinco Promotes Giving Back, Shares Patch Tweet

He tweets about his dance moves on Dancing with the Stars, on his search for the "Ultimate Catch" during his VH1 reality dating show and of course,controversially, about his feelings from the football field.

But this week, Chad Ochocinco - the wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals and Twitter enthusiast - is using his celebrity Twitter platform to promote a familiar trend this Thanksgiving: Giving back.

On Monday, Ochocinco shared a little of his twitter lover with North Potomac-Darnestown Patch. It came in the form of a retweet - the virtual shout-out or pat-on-the-back of the Twitter world.

If you're unfamiliar with Twitter jargon, a retweet is when you forward someone else's tweet to your friends or people who follow your tweets. Without any necessary extra comment, it's basically a way of saying something got your attention and you want to tell your friends.

For a celeb-Twitterer like Ochocinco, his "friends" add up to nearly a million and a half followers. In fact, he's in the top 200 most followed people on Twitter.

That's why we were psyched when we saw @ochocinco - the verified Twitter account for Chad Ochocinco - share our tweet about local foodbanks in need of donations on Thanksgiving.

It looked like this:

That tweet was then retweeted by more than 60 of his followers. Our tweet was listed as one of the top #Thanksgiving (Twitter tracks tweets with # signs) tweets of the day as shared by 672 people on Twitter.

MTV's Olivia Palermo: Ready for Her Own Show that Might be on VH1

Stepping out for the screening of “I Love You Phillip Morris,” Olivia Palermo was spotted at the New York's School of Visual Arts Theater on Monday night (November 22).

Upon arrival, the reality TV star babe looked fabulous while showing off her freshly cut and colored locks and posing for pictures alongside her hunky beau, Johannes Huebl.

And now that MTV’s “The City” has been canceled, it is being reported that Palermo has landed her very own reality show that will follow her every move.

Olivia's new gig is still in talks and has yet to be picked up by a network, but word has it, the Style network, Oxygen, MTV, VH1 or even E! might be interested.

“Man it was a lot of fun,” explains Riggs. “I was glad Strikeforce let me fight on their card so close to my hometown. Everywhere I looked in the crowd I saw someone I worked with, was related to, or went to school with. I thought I might be nervous but I was really relaxed going into the fight.”
Fighting in front of your friends and family might sound like a little extra pressure but Riggs wasn’t worried about letting anyone down. “All I wanted to do was put on a show and get the win. James (his opponent) and I go way back. We used to train together. He and I talked and it was nothing personal. He wanted to knock my head off and I wanted to do the same. Afterwards we shook and hands and even hung out a little later. I wish him the best. He’s a tough dude and he really pushed me. I am kind of pissed he messed up my hair though (laughs).”
Now on a roll with four straight the sky is the limit for the man dubbed “Mississippi” by former UFC light heavyweight Rampage Jackson. “I feel really good and I’m on a roll. I got two straight first rounds knockouts this summer then I got a big win on Bellator in September. Then I picked a win Friday for Strikeforce. It’s all leading to bigger and better things. I’ve been working hard and trying to learn as much as I can because I really feel I can mix it up with the best in the sport. I’m gonna take a little time to spend with my son and then get back in the gym and get ready for the next one.”

Fantasia Had An Abortion With Antwaun's Baby

Well this whole Fantasia scandal involving Antwaun Cook is now turning into a soap opera. Early this month, I made a blog post about Fantasia being pregnant with her lover Antwaun Cook. Well she WAS pregnant. She had an abortion around the time she tried to kill herself back in August.

Fantasia told the shocking confession today at the North Carolina court house.

Chad had his VH1 dating show this year called "The Ultimate Catch" and he has been int he headlines for being with Evelyn from Basketbal Wives who are now engaged. Now VH1 wants a spin off show between the two of them.

I felt like VH1 whored him up all year long. First with For The Love Of Ray-J 2. They even had a reunion show for it and then Brandy and Ray-J: A Family Business.
