Brandy in Trial

The breach of contract law suit involving Dancing With The Stars Brandy Norwood and Plaintiff Marc Mysterio -- whom had been paid $10,000 side artist fee to feature on Shout It Out, but never sent the vocals – returned to the Los Angeles Superior Court (Case No. BC444077) for the Central District yesterday.
Today, The Superior Court for LA County, Central District in Marc Mysterio v Brandy Norwood, et al denied Norwood's motion to dismiss the law suit ordering that the case is to move forward, and the defendants stand trial by jury.

As to the future calendaring of the case, the following dates were set by the Court: - Trial is now scheduled for July 27, 2011 as a 3-5 day jury trial;
- The final Status Conference is scheduled for July 18, 2011;

- A mediation was ordered by the Court that must be completed by or before March 14, 2011; and,
- A "Post-Mediation Status Conference" was scheduled for March 17, 2011.
The song in question, SHOUT IT OUT BY MARC MYSTERIO, has thus far charted in Canada, France and Netherlands without Norwood's Verses and vocals.
As reported by Singersroom.com, VH1 recorded the deal going down, and pre-production conference between Marc Mysterio & Brandy Norwood for season 2 of her reality show. The videotapes are presently under subpeona until time of trial.

Exclusive 'My Big Friggin' Wedding' Interview: Mrs Meatballs

If you're a fan of Jersey Shore and you haven't checked out Executive Producer SallyAnn Salsano's latest UNICO-angering venture, My Big Friggin' Wedding, set your DVRs to Monday nights at 9 on VH1 now.
In the meantime, get to know down-to-earthnewlywed mom Megin, who gave birth to the couple's first son (and her second) in last night's episode. In this exclusive Stir interview, Megin promises "craziness all around" for her and Johnny Meatballs, as well as the other featured (and arguably more dysfunctional) couples.

It's been several weeks since MBFWstarted airing. How has your life changed, if at all, because of the show?
I get a ton of friend requests on Facebooknow, but that's about it. I'm not a celebrity orAngelina Jolie; I was simply a bride-to-be who agreed to be filmed planning the wedding of my dreams Jersey-style. I don't let being on TV get to my head. I'm still a mom first and foremost, daughter, sister, and companion.

Planning a wedding can be super stressful. I can't even imagine doing it pregnant! How did you deal? Any advice for other brides-to-be who are also expecting?
I'm not a planner. I change my mind a billion times just getting dressed in the morning, so you can imagine planning a wedding. I had a lot of help and advice from my friends. I was very emotional, especially being pregnant, and I took a lot of it out on Johnny. The only advice I can give to any bride planning a wedding expecting or not is you should always listen to people's advice, but it doesn't mean you have to take it in the end. It's your special day.

Agreed! Which couple on the show do you think most people can relate to? Which couple do you think is the most outrageous?
I can only speak for Johnny and me, but our storyline goes far beyond planning a wedding. This past year was the most emotional year I've had between having a baby, planning a wedding, starting a business — it was a lot to deal with — and I think people can appreciate that raw honesty. I've only met the other couples one time at a photo shoot and I can tell you we are all pretty outrageous and crazy. Ya kinda have to agree to having cameras follow you around!

Can you give us a couple teasers on what's ahead for the couples of MBFW?
I can tell you that each episode will be more intense as the big day gets closer. The show is going to be insane. Besides the normal tanning, yelling, clubbing, there's picking the venues, finding the bridesmaid dresses, family drama ... it's a lot to fit into 10 episodes. I mean, at one point, Tammie thought she was pregnant, Sandra quit her job, I needed to have the baby in time to fit into my dress ... it's craziness all around. This is not your typical wedding show.

Finally, let's get to the important stuff: Was it the man or the meatballs that won you over?
Johnny's Meatballs are delish, but I have to say it is his charm that still gives me butterflies. You can have a taste of his meatballs (but not him!) by going to www.johnnymeatballs.com.

Brandy Is 'Not Okay' Being Single

Brandy

The R & B singer, who calls herself a hopeless romantic, admits she is unhappy and wants a man in her life. "I put myself in the eyeline of love, but I can't quite get it together," she tellsPopEater. "I'm not okay being single because I'm a relationship girl. I love the romance."

Brandy was romantically involved with producer Robert "Big Bert" Smith and gave birth to their daughter, Sy'rai, in 2002. However, a year after the birth, the couple officially announced their separation. Since then, Brandy hasn't been very lucky in the love department, admitting earlier this year that she hasn't had sex in six years.

Although the single mother hasn't found Mr. Right, she's still holding out hope. "He's out there. He's just taking too long. It's like 'Dude. Hurry up! Where are you?'"

Now that her daughter is older, Brandy is giving herself more time to go out and start dating again. What's she looking for in her dream guy? "He has to be funny because I love to laugh. Driven, creative, motivated and inspired. He has to be a loving guy, who loves his mom and family. And, of course, easy on the eyes. That always helps," she gushes.

But at the end of a long day, Brandy says the love from her family and friends is what truly matters. "I have a good family and support system who've helped me with my daughter for years. They've helped me balance everything in my life. I'm blessed," she reveals.

The Norwoods -- Brandy, brother Ray J and gospel-singing father Willie -- recently teamed up for their first family collaboration, entitled 'Talk to Me,' just in time for the second season of VH1's 'Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business,' which debuts Dec. 5 at 11PM EST.

Brandy admits the recording session brought back a lot of emotions for her. "It reminds me of when we were little. All we did was sing with my dad in the choir and in the car on the way to church. To be on a record with them is a blessing. Music is our first love," she says.

The single also marks the end of Brandy's two-year hiatus from music, and she is hard at work on her sixth studio album. "The fans are like, 'Please come back! Please come back.' They deserve the music, so I want to give them everything I've got on this new album."

Dr. Drew defends 'Celebrity Rehab': 'It's progress, not perfection'

dr-drew-pinsky-gi.jpg

A new season of "Celebrity Rehab" debuts Wednesday (Dec. 1) on VH1, which means a new group of celebs with addiction issues will be put through the wringer. And, inevitably, there will be some who rebel against the process.

But Dr. Drew Pinsky, who supervises the treatment on the show, says that while he always aims to help the celebrities under his care, he can't lead them by hand to a sober life.

"There's no direct line to sobriety," Pinsky tells Life & Style in this week's issue. "For people in recovery, it's progress, not perfection."

At least one former contestant begs to differ. "The show likes to f*** with you, basically," says Kari Ann Peniche, who appeared on the show's third season earlier this year. The magazine also notes some other rough times for past "Celebrity Rehab" patients -- as well as some success stories.

Be that as it may, Dr. Drew is confident that the new crop of "Rehab" patients -- among them Janice Dickinson, Rachel Uchitel and Jeremy London -- will leave the show as different people. "I think all our patients will tell you that 'Celebrity Rehab' was a life-changing experience for them," he said

New "Basketball Wives" Cast Member Ashely Walker Is Brand Ambassador For Tequila Distinguido

New York, NY, United States (NewsBahn) - On Nov. 29, Emperial Americas announced Tequila Distinguido will launch a marketing partnership with VH1 “Basketball Wives” cast member Ashley Walker. Tequila Distinguido has already won high marks at the San Francisco World Spirits competition among critics and the public. The tequila is positioned as “authentic and all natural.”

Walker might not be known to the public quite yet as a “Basketball” wife – she joins the show in its second season, which will premiere December 13 on VH1. She also isn’t technically a wife – while she is a mother of two, she is just the girlfriend of Houston Rockets’ point guard Rafer Alston.
However, despite her fame as a new reality personality, the tequila company chose Walker to be a brand ambassador because she is philanthropic and demonstrates responsibility in addition to her glamorous life; she has her own organization, The Mission of Love, that helps students in Kenya, and also finds time to mentor teenage girls.
“The partnership between Tequila Distinguido and Ashley Walker creates the perfect synergy to market Tequila Distinguido’s luxury product,” Alonzo Pierce, National Brand Manager for Tequila Distinguido, said in a statement.
“Ashley Walker is distinguished and epitomizes positivity, confidence, originality and exudes class, making her the ideal choice to partner with Tequila Distinguido – a brand that emulates these characteristics. Ashley is philanthropic, responsible and beautiful, a lifestyle that Tequila Distinguido represents, and is sure to resonate with our consumers.”
Walker told Vibe magazine she was nervous to join the “Basketball Wives” cast, but does not get involved in drama.
“I talk about my foundation and I try to stay out of all the drama going on. There wasn’t a point where I had to fight back at all because nothing was really said to me to my face. So I didn’t have to go there at all. I’m not confrontational but I’m not going to let anybody disrespect me either.”

Dr. Drew: Jason Wahler, 23, Has "Alcohol Damage" of 50-Year-Old

1291238097_dr-drew-jason-wahler-290.jpg

Dr. Drew Pinksy is making some sobering observations about former Laguna Beach star Jason Wahler, who he treats on VH1's Celebrity Rehab (premiering Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST).

"The one thing that struck me in the opening day was, I did his physical exam and he had clear stigmata -- signs of advanced alcoholism," Pinksy says of Wahler, 23. "This guy's in his early 20s and he has the kind of alcohol damage that usually I've seen in 50-year old dads."

After Wahler's sixth alcohol-related arrest in March, the reality star told UsMagazine.com that he felt "very, very ashamed of everything." Though he went to AA meetings up to five times a week, he "started falling out of the program" once he began to pursue an acting career.
Because of Wahler's troubled past, Pinsky wasn't exactly surprised when he joined stars such as Janice DickinsonJason Davis and Rachel Uchitel for the series' fourth season.

"This guy was clear to me as a hardcore alcoholic. I had seen him on the show in Season 1 of Laguna Beach," Pinsky, 52, tells VH1. "I literally was yelling at the television like, 'Is anybody gonna help this kid? You know how much of a drug addict this is? Anybody but me gonna speak up?' And evidently it took quite a bit more before anybody did speak up."
