Queen Latifah Talks About Her VH1 Scripted Series " Single Ladies"

We chatted with Latifah about her news, which includes producing a show on VH1 called Single Ladies.
Debuting in July 2011, it stars Stacey Dash and Lisa Raye McCoy as bachelorettes looking for love. (In real life, QL doesn't have such romantic problems -- she's rumored to be happily dating trainer to the stars Jeanette Jenkins).

Tell us about the show.
It's a concept my partner Shakim [Compere] and I came up with -- VH1's first scripted television show. It's something a lot of women and men can relate to right now.

What is the best advice you can give to all the single ladies out there?
Stay true to yourself.

How do you like being behind the camera?
I love it. My partner and I have a production company and a full functioning studio in Miami.
We always have had a real hand in creating stories and scripts and characters in all the projects I've been in, so it was time to take it to another level.

What have been your most memorable roles?
All are pretty special for different reasons, but I would say either my role in Life Support [a drama based on Andrea Williams, a real-life HIV-positive woman who devotes her life to helping others] because she was so courageous, or Chicago. Mama Morton was such a fantastic, over the top character.

Do you have a dream costar? Director?
Yes, I'd love to do a movie with Sandra Bullock and Quentin Tarantino.

What do you think of all the rappers turned actors? Do you think you led the charge?
I don't think any one thing of one group of people. We're all individuals, but I'm proud that so many of my peers are so talented. And I do think of myself as somewhat of a pioneer, but it was a natural progression for me.

Examiner.com Reviews My Big Friggin' Wedding

Everybody was buzzing about this "My Big Fat Friggin' Fabulicious, Frickin' Amazing Wedding" show so I was like, "Hey my life is already pretty much in New Jersey, what's another hour."
So I checked a repeat of the first episode, and whoa...this is effing GOLDEN!!! Where do you even start? I mean, you've got knocked up Megin and her Johnny, what's not to love about a guy who goes by the name "Meatballs"???
Matt and Amanda are pretty interchangeable with Sandra and Joey at this point. Give me another episode and I'll be able to tell them apart.
Tammie and Danny are the interracial couple with the huge age difference. She's a legend of Long Island or something, and Danny's the checkbook. But they really have the only interesting story on this show so far.
But my personal all time favorites I just know are going to be the drunk twins, Alyssa and Tyler. They're the ones with the three year old and are getting married, just cuz...what-evuh...who cay-uhs...we want a party. A classy type one. I love it. Got the house, the car, the kid...NOW lets get married. I'll never understand that. Why bother now? Sure it's tehz geyz ruining the sanctity of marriage. Of course it is.
But what I love about them and what is so full of win is that everybody is drunk all the time! I also love that Alyssa's mom is like..what...35? And the step dad is all slurring and falling off the couch, spilling his beer?
Oh if that's not a reality TV gift from sweet baby Jesus himself, I don't know what is.
Ok, so I'm in they had me at everybody having "Friggin" by their names. Friggin' Johnny, Friggin' Grandma...oh it's just so full of win, I'm almost weeping. So of course,I'll recap this mess! It'll fill the void of RHOA moving to Sunday nights. Are you going to watch My Big Friggin' Wedding?

Bret Stays Quiet on Lopez Tonight About Miley Cyrus's Mom

One topic that came up early in the conversation was the number of afflictions he has suffered in the last year -- which include appendix trouble, a brain hemorrhage, a warning stroke, and a hole in his heart that is going to be oeprated on next year:
"If karma comes back to get you, I've either been Ghandi or Atilla the Hun ... they go on [for the heart operation], they open you up or go in this way. Neither one sounds that good."
One topic that was avoided throughout the interview (thankfully so) were the recent allegations surrounding Bret and Miley Cyrus' mom Tish. However, since representatives for both parties have already shot down the rumors, there's really not so much of a need to bring it up.
You can check out a sample of the interview to the left.

Foot Ball Wives Pilar Sanders Interviews with Essence Online

pilar-sanders-300-1.jpg

She recently spoke to ESSENCE.com about what it takes to stay married to a famous sports figure and what she hopes women will take away from the show.

ESSENCE.com: Two years ago, you starred in your own reality series, "Deion and Pilar: Prime Time" on Oxygen. Why the return to reality TV?

PILAR SANDERS: For the chance to do a reality show with women; to get together with seven other ladies who share the same plight. And my audience definitely loved the camaraderie and the home life aspect they saw on "Prime Time." I also wanted to see how I would handle different situations.

ESSENCE.com: What is your relationship with the other women on the show?

SANDERS: Interesting. You'll have to tune in. [laughs]

ESSENCE.com: Can viewers expect to see the same type of drama they saw on "Basketball Wives"? Any drinks thrown in someone's face this time around?

SANDERS: I don't know, but I know it won't be me. There are seven very strong, opinionated women who are doing their own thing, so there's definitely going to be drama. But you're not going to see drinks being thrown or tables being turned over.

ESSENCE.com: You've been married for almost 12 years. What do you think it takes for a successful marriage to a professional athlete?

SANDERS: You need to have God in the center. I think that's the only reason we lasted this long. I also don't believe that husbands and wives are necessarily best friends. There are things I share with my girlfriends that I wouldn't necessarily share with my man. But you should have an open line of communication. To be friends with each other is so important.

ESSENCE.com: What are some of the pros and cons to being married to a famous sports figure?

SANDERS: Some pros are the opportunities you're afforded, the travel, the financial opportunities and the exposure to so many things. A con is that you always have to be on your P's and Q's because there is always someone with a gimmick or someone looking for a lawsuit. But there are more pros than cons.

ESSENCE.com: What do you hope women will learn from the show?

SANDERS: I hope women can find some kind of encouragement in whatever stage they are in life. Ideally, I'd like to see more women bonding and supporting one another.

Football Wives premieres this Sunday night on VH1 at 10:30/ 9:30 Central.

Bad Girl Natalie Tells Bad Girl Catya To Go On Celebrity Rehab

"Catya, what you just did was stupid, childish and not smart at all. You’ve just lost your chances at anything that could have possibly been coming your way, because unfortunately, this is a business, and you are now a stupid bad girl.I don’t condone one of the things that you’ve done. I’m not a princess, nor am I an angel, but a smart bad girl doesn’t get caught doing stupid ass shit.
You should consider going on this Celebrity Rehab show when your contract is up. Actually, Oxygen probably doesn’t even care about your contract anymore, I bet they’ve already signed it off. Trust me, right now, that’s the smartest thing you could do, besides writing a book since you’re going to do a lot of time.
Fortunately, there’s still a future for fuck-ups, so just continue to be the huge fuck-up that you are. Good Job !"

Brandy On the Cover of Upscale Magazine + " Shes a Murderer"

Most piercing, however, was her revelations about the taunting she, even as of today, still receives regarding the fatal car accident, she was involved in back in 2007.
Her comment after the jump…

“People call me a murderer, they taunt me and send pictures of cars that are basically annihilated. Every report has stated that I was not at fault. People still don’t care”

Basketball Wive's Gloria's Sister Denies Affair with Shaq

Laura Govan and her sister Gloria Govan are both basketball wives in their own right despite the fact that neither of them are married and only one of them accepted the invitation to join Shaunie O'Neal's reality show.

It seems that no matter what either of them do, they're both still all up in the mix. Gloria's drama was aired on VH1, meanwhile, Laura decided to remain low-key, that is until now.

In a recent interview, Laura dishes all the dirt about the allegations that herself and Shaquille O'Neal were romantically involved during her relationship with Gilbert Arenas:

On why she didn't go public:

I didn’t want to do it because I’ve never asked to be in the public eye,” explained Laura. “I’m educated. I want to make sure that my children have a role model in the sense of whatever that means to me. I want them to see that mommy is doing things other than being behind daddy and going to games and being cute.

On how the rumor started:

We found out who actually made up the fake emails. Both parties know the truth and that’s it.” On why she finally decided to speak out:

I have three kids [ages 4, 3 and 11 months], and in between that I had a miscarriage. Gilbert was going through his thing, you know. He came first and foremost and then my children and us as a family. There was nothing else to that. And for the record, we never split. -
